On Sunday 7/7, The WHYBL 12u Bulldogs defeated Brookfield for the second time in a week to bring home their 3rd Connecticut consecutive state championship! The culminating game was a resounding 11-1 victory helped by strong overall performances across the team, including a couple of early inning home runs.

This brings the Bulldogs travel season record to 15-0 leading into the New England Regional Championships beginning this Saturday in New Milford, CT. The Bulldogs will play Cranston, Rhode Island in Round 1.

We continue to wish this team much success in their journey through Regionals...with the winner earning a spot in the Cal Ripken World Series the week of August 4th in Branson, MO!

Travel Team Update: 10U Walrus Enjoying Successful Summer Season

The WHYBL 10U Walrus is off to a hot start this summer. The team is 12-7 on the season and just completed a successful run through the Cal Ripken District tournament and State Tournament.

The team started its season over the Memorial Day weekend with big wins over Danbury and Easton before losing to East Fishkill, NY in the Bethel Memorial Day weekend championship game for a second place finish. The team then went 1-2 at the Al Leonard Tournament in mid-June beating Danbury and losing close games to Norwalk and Newtown.  The team then moved on to the Cal Ripken Tournament trail. The Walrus swept the District Tournament in Hebron beating RHAM 14-4 and New Britain 14-0 and then RHAM again 5-4 in the Championship game to become District 3 champions. The team entered the double elimination State Tournament in Milford with 8 other teams from around the state. They beat Danbury in an exciting 7 inning game 8-7 in Game 1 and then beat Beth-Wood 4-0 in Game 2 to advance to the finals of the Winners Bracket against Greenwich. Greenwich proved too strong  in Game 3 edging the Walrus 4-3 on a 5th inning sacrifice bunt. The Walrus had a chance to get to the Championship game the next day, but fell short to a strong New Fairfield team 9-5. With the loss, the team finished in 3rd place.

Over the next month, the Walrus expect to play 10-15 more games competing in our own 10U West Hartford tournament the next couple of weeks, War at the Shore in late July, and will finish their Summer at the Nutmeg Games in early August.
