2019 Executive Board Announced

West Hartford Youth Baseball Families -

We have completed a successful fall baseball season to finish what was a fantastic year of baseball for our players, coaches, families and league.  Once again, we have exceeded expectations on and off the field and we remain the premier option for in-town spring and summer travel baseball in West Hartford.

We had several exciting spring league regular and post season finishes and highlighted once again by our 11u Summer Travel Bulldogs capturing the CT State Cal Ripken championship and were one win away from their 2nd consecutive New England Regional title.  The 12u Summer Cyclones team traveled Cooperstown Dreams Park to participate in a national tournament with 104 teams from all over the United States.  The Cyclones finished overall in 5th place out of all 104 teams with wins over Massachusetts, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, NJ, NY and Ohio.

As we get ready for the 2019 season, I am excited to announce our new President Rob Hanawalt as I step down after two years of service.

Rob has been active in WHYBL for the past 5 years managing his two sons Chase and Max in the Minors and Majors with Conner’s Insurance.  Rob has also managed in our summer travel program highlighted by a Cal Ripken World Series appearance in 2017 and back to back state titles with his 10u and 11u teams.  Rob is a key member of our executive board that made our Bloomfield indoor baseball facility possible and along with his wife Liz have been strong supporters of our league and fund-raising activities.  Rob is well equipped to carry the league to new heights.

Rob has a wealth of baseball experience from his time as a pitcher at the University of Pittsburgh.  We are lucky to have Rob as our new President and I am excited to help him with the transition.

I want to take this opportunity to thank all of the parents, volunteers, and players who helped me during my time as President over the past 2 years. I could not have done it without you. It was a lot of work, but a tremendous opportunity for me to serve at the highest level of leadership in our league. I will continue to serve on the executive board as Past President and Fields Coordinator next year and will assist other members of the Executive Board as needed.  I'm planning to coach next year in West Hartford with the American Legion Baseball program.

WHYBL was great before me and I've done my best to keep it on course over the last two years for you.  I leave it in great hands with Rob's leadership as well as several other new faces on our 2018 Executive Board (see list below). I encourage all of you reading this to consider how you can help Rob and the new Executive Board as volunteers are always needed. Rob will outline the League's needs and his plans in a separate email to you in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks again for all of your support and please give Rob a warm welcome.
